calimeThose last days I've been ... grumpy.The kind of grumpy that derives from a bunch of low-level irritations (moronic people. pompous guys. very slippery ice everywhere.neighbour's barking dog always in the yard.stuff that needs to be done and that does not get done. dust bunnies.puppy picking up the kennel cough. etc.etc.etc.) and only feeds itself on said stuff. So I've hidden in fic and magazines and shows (old and new) and sleep and a couple of beers, as I luckily had a few days off, and it seems that perhaps the grump is slowly dissipating (so is the kennel cough). Work tomorrow... and maybe I can even avoid biting innocent heads off. And get more stuff done, work-related and otherwise.
Now that everyone has been weighing in on their opinion re: SGA final eps, I feel like I should mumble something, too... In short, I feel reconciled with the cancellation, and in this vein, watched the last eps with the mixture of relief (oh, TPTB did not screw the canon too much) and glee (oh, good fodder for fanfic, yays! ignore the plotholes, just think of the fic potential!). And honestly, a closed canon is a thing of beauty, giving peace to the soul and balm to the heart. I dimly remember (I've tried to block it out) the terrible awful summer after seeing Highlander's Archangel and then spending a lot of time cursing the local channel for deciding to end the season at it's intended break for the first time (it aired here later than in most places, and a year had more than a season's worth of eps shown, earlier),and then the 6th season that was... well, you know how it was. And right now, of the shows that are still running that I watch, only NCIS is currently delivering undulterated comfort and joy, while Supernatural keeps me in constant low-level worry that it will do something that will make me feel guilty for watching it...So, in short, hooray for the closed canon and the endless fanon stretching into the forever, where the Team will always go through the 'Gate.
Oh, and in the vein of cleaving to the closed-canon shows, I've slowly begun watching the Sentinel. We watched the pilot while over at Dresta's (a local channel, which I do not get at home, grr, is showing it), and I remembered I had maybe up to the 3rd season dl-d and... I think I like it. And I think I like it in the way that requires ficreading. Soon. (I'm presently up to 1.8) Oh, the sweet slashy (older) cop show, you may just be what the doctor ordered. Without much thinking required.
