Trying it out...

Found this wonderful guide how to back up your LJ and import the contents to Insanejournal, Greatestjournal or others with the same platform. So I copied my LJ entries to IJ (I will be keeping my GJ account just for ficcy bits) and also installed Semagic to try out simultaneous posting to several accounts as described here. If it works, I'm glad, because IJ account is a good thing to have in case of an emergency and it seems more and more people are getting one, but frankly I cannot be arsed to keep different journals and am too lazy also to just copypaste into two separate accounts otherwise. If this Semagic thing works, though, it makes it a lot easier.
Divulged my nefarious plans to desert my present job to my superiors today. Of course I wasn't met with obvious delight *snerk*, but it wasn't bad either, so YAY!!! back to the blood, sweat and tears again, starting around October the latest.

I have a IJ, but I've never posted. I have a GJ too. So now they have a way to pack up your LJ and put it on IJ? Interesting. Don't know if I would care enough to want to post the same post to different journals. But it's good to know we can if we want to. *nods*

Yes, the same with my IJ account - it was just laying around. Now I imported the posts from LJ. The thingy does not import comments, though. One can copy the contents of one's LJ complete with comments using LJArchive tool but that copy cannot be converted back. So far I only had the LJArchive backup.
It does make me feel a bit more secure knowing that I can fall back on the IJ, though I hope I don't have to - I'm used to LJ.

I'm thinking of backing up all my fiction to one of the accounts -- I'm lazy too, though. I love my LJ.

It'd definitely be a good tool to back up fic. It does not import coments though - if you want to preserve comments, you have to use LJArchive tool, but as far as I understand, one cannot restore/iport a journal form that backup.
I like LJ a lot, and I'd want to hope these recent kerfuffles will be of no significance... though the pessimist in me says that once the censorship has gotten it's foot in between the door, it's only a matter of time until the pandering to every moron's delicate sensibilites begins. I sure hope I'm wrong.

LJ-Sec works very well! I just uploaded the current Poor Roger posts and I'll go back and do the same for any old stories that aren't archived outside LJ.
