A shameless plea for help
Oct. 19th, 2005 09:57 pmWell, I've been meaning to buy the HL series dvd collection for some time now. As it turned out, I've been saddled with a damn burden some extra work and will recieve not enough for the trouble but still some extra money, so I decided that I should just use it up - so I'll feel that all that extra pain in the ass is worth something. The problem is, that the official HL store at legendaryheroes.com has a very good price offer...better than I've found anywhere else....but there's a catch. They only ship to U.S.
And I'm located somewhere in a grey zone between Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. And that brings me to the point...I am respectfully asking wheteher anyone from my f-list living in U.S. of A. would be kind enough to allow her address to be used as a shipping address and then go through the trouble of forwarding the dvd-s to me? I have nothing to offer except all expences paid and my eternal gratitude (and also
dresta11 's gratitude as well, 'cause, you know, good friends share stuff *g*)...
ETA: Wonderful and fabulous
crazy4rog has agreed to be the one who saves the day, so a thousand thanks!

A due warning, perhaps
Date: 2005-10-24 05:29 pm (UTC)Myself being located a little south of you (Austria), I have got my DVDs (season 3 to 5) straight from the US. Turns out season 3 works fine on my Region2 DVD recorder, while 4 and 5 don't. Well, I finally found out how to set the DVD player of my little mac for Region 1. Hmmm, still not really working: strangely, more than half the DVDs still won't play on the region1 player...
By then of course it was too late to send them back. *sniff*
I wouldn't want that to happen to you, as well.
So, before you buy the DVDs be sure you can play Region 1 DVDs, and when you do get them, make sure RIGHT AWAY that all is in order. I hope yours do better! ;-)
Oh, and the EU may still have pretty high customs on DVDs. They did when i got mine, at any rate. I paid almost as much in customs as I paid for the DVDs themselves. (Talk about bad timing on top of bad luck: I also waited 1,5 months till they arrived, probably due to Christmas season.)
