Good luck! There seems to be a concerted effort by certain power groups to lock down the internet globally. It's getting dicey out there. (Ironically, this is the second attempt at replying to your post--the internet went down. But that's Mexico, not the Powers that Want To Be.)
Yeah, in a way I've got a horrible deja-vu feeling...I'm old enough to remember well the time when everyone in northern Estonia had an illegal device inside a TV set to watch the Finnish TV channels the dear Communist Party deemed inappropriate capitalist propaganda and punishable by law... Methinks world does not change much, and those in power always want to control things... Evil Empires just change names and borders, not their inner nature.
Using your power to blacknwhite people's television. I mean, take over the world, I get, but mess with colour tv... what.
Having said that, I'm pretty happy they didn't try to take over the world.
*mutter* Power should return to where it belongs, with fictional and extremely beautiful people who wear a lot of black leather and prance for my enjoyment */mutter*
Also, re: stupidity - our dear prime minister has unwittingly crammed both of his feet into his mouth, when he ridiculed anti-ACTA concerns in a really lame way during a Q&A session (and the questions were very civilised and reasonable and came from other MP-s...); namely, he suggested anyone thinking that ACTA is not the bees' knees has been eating some weird seeds and should wear a tin hat... Being from a bit older generation, I bet he did not know what it means to incur the wrath of the intarwebs... Examples like this: http://aplefly.com/ansipi-seemnemaaraja/ (help our prime minister to eat seeds) or this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sVuFWXBEvPI/TzTfI70jrQI/AAAAAAAAArE/dvx6dyBD6Yw/s400/Ansip+kui+Louis+XIV.jpg or this: http://itnurk.com/files/upload/urod/2012/02/1328725242-646_02.jpg ( the first macro riffs on the theme of our PM as Louis XIV saying the state- that is me and the second one refers to not only our PM's recent outburrst, but to a coalition party's leader's gaffe where he deleted ACTA-related discussion threads from his FAcebook wall and when questioned about it, claimed that 'he ran out of room* o_0)
Yeah :D The coalition party's leader even made international news http://www.dailydot.com/news/estonian-politician-defense-minister-maart-laar/ (well, the PM's stoopid has started getting out as well, but so far only into Finnish press). http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s320x320/416910_10150497733241898_725766897_9443710_1673155894_n.jpg actually translates into "I didn't delete (anything). The internet ran out of space", the translation within the article isn't correct:) And he also got his own little online game - "Help Mart get more room" *grins*. Well, despite the funny I'm partly pessimistic about whether the ordinary folks will have any impact on ACTA ratification - but you never know, plus, unless one tries, there's definitely nothing going to happen.

No, I don't know. Think about the future, how it might just be if they get their way, and think to the past. Everyone copied tapes, but only few people had really tons of home-made audio cassettes. Also, a lot of people drank alcohol when and where it was illegal, but there were still people who somehow go to be more involved. Same (why do I bother with history?) really with current day drugs. Lots of people use, some people get targeted more.
...It could end in one of a million ways. The happy option is that the near future is gonna be like nothing we've ever had before. The option ACTA and similar things are trying to get to is a return to old patterns. And old patterns we know; they can't really outsmart humans.
Yeah. I'm actually pretty sure that the future will be like something we've never imagined, or at least only partially imagined. Whether it's for the better or for the worse, time will tell. Went to the protest today (very Estonian - circa 1000+ people making modest noises of approval to restrained speeches, some tin hats and slogans and guy fawkes masks, and of course singing. And some bouncing.) - on one hand, well, it's not as if the earth moved; otoh, it's nice to see that the young'uns (those that are said to sit passively behind their computers) too can be arsed to move, sometimes, and on the third tentacle, fuck it, it's been 20+ years since I went out and stood with the crowd for some kind of freedom (which I don't think should be the freedom of getting your elected representatives of a democratic government piss on you with far less life-threatening repressions, but equal degree of contempt compared to totalitarian USSR). Also, loved seeing people of all age groups there, not just the 20-somethings. *shrugs* Dunno if anyhting comes of it, but at least I can say we tried. Plus the weather was fine, despite temperatures of -15C.
Every generation says "the young ones don't care". And every generation is more or less right, because it's 90% people who don't care, 10% people who get up and do things, in pretty much every generation. Exact figures may vary.

in short: a device to return colour to a colour tv that had the colour taken out of it by the government.
