(RL taking all energy, only managing to get on Tumblr, all that stuff). Photobucket sayd fuckoff to basically any free account in the bandwidth usage sense so my DW banner is now defunct (because Photobucket link) and I haven't had the energy to look into redesigning the layout. Maybe some day.

I did sign up for HLH Shortcuts this year and I'm trying to hope I'm not going to regret it. It feels like the world is an uncertain and perilous place nowadays (though, isn't it ever?), so little bits of joy are always good.

Just sending out well-wishes and support and hopes of safe journey through the time for everyone, as much as it might help.

comments

TL;DR - it’s probably not as bad as we feared, thankfully, but is still going to create a lot of hassle and we won’t see all the results before a few good years have passed.

comments

I can barely keep up with our little fannish friendsgroup chat on Signal, and as much as I like the idea of getting know more like-minded fen, Discord is just not something my spoons will strtetch to rn. I guess Dw is going to be the main hub for me, with slowly dying Tumblr keeping it's slow fizzle on the background. AO3 I sincerely hope is going to live long and prosper. Pillowfort- we'll see.
Reading Venom fic I’m kind of wondering why in none of them Eddie Brock actually buys a bluetooth earpiece and pretends he’s just another obnoxious person thinking everyone else should be an unwitting background participant to their phone calls. I mean, personally, my first reflex thought nowadays hearing someone having an one-sided convo with themselves isn’t ’ oh, are they hearing VOICES??’ or ‘oh, are they talking to an ALIEN GOO MONSTER?’ or anything suspicious, but just 'oh fuck another one of those private convo flashers on the phone’. I mean, obviously culture varies and maybe in good old USA everyone nowadays just texts, but I’ve met those kinds off ppl in many countries, so…

comments

Well, apparently Tumblr just deleted my account and all the accumulated stuff on my tumblr yesterday for no apparent reason that I can see - I mean, I haven't participated in fandom wanks recently, mostly, I don't spam, I had my tumblr marked as adult content or whatever so nobody'd get their hackles up - I dunno. Always possible someone just disliked that sailor moon fanart of Thor I reblogged, I guess... Anyway, I have messaged support, but I don't know if should even get my hopes up. Anyways, I'm personally A-OK and cihlling out in the summer cabin (which is why I wasn't the one to notice my tumblr had been axed but had to be informed by friends). I guess I'll wait on support, and maybe make a new tumblr later if necessary...
Eh, I'm still a fandom middle-aged at least in that I hate losing cultural layers worth of stuff though I know in my very bones that everything is ephemeral.

EDIT: I got response from support very fast, less than 24 hours, to say that my blog was restored, and email said "Thank you for contacting us!

Your account has been restored. In the future please refrain from using interstitial ads redirection links (like adf dot ly, ouo dot io or viid dotme) as they violate our policies on Spam & Deceptive links or your account will be automatically terminated again.

You can find all our Community Guidelines at https://www.tumblr.com/policy/en/community"

So I checked and it was all back, and the only thing I could think of that could look like the links mentioned in email was Pillowfort info I'd reblogged, because theirs is a link ending in io. So took a screenshot of the email, with no identifying info seen, and made a warning post - being very careful not to type in any links mentioned, hence the screenshot only of the abovementioned text - posted it, and whoosh, my Tumblr is again gone.

*sigh*
So I sent in another question on the support thread and really hope warning ohers didn't fuck things up for me.

Argh. Eh, we'll see.

Progeny of EDIT: Aaand I'm back in and it was a glitch and I say now that up to now this is honestly the fastest customer support I've gotten on websites, so kudos.

Grumbly offshoot of EDIT: And 2 days later I'm terminated again, and now they claim it's because I've been using my Tumblr for spam or affiliate marketing or something like that, which is patently untrue. Have sent in refutations, politely, but getting a bit annoyed and despondent. WTF, I mean, I don't even think I've ever reblogged any ads, and I have asked some of my mutuals and they have recieved no spam from me, so it can't be a question of account hijacking either. Dammit.

Well, I guess I'm just spending more time on Pillowfort now...

comments

Beware that this is somewhat spoilery!

I watched it last night (having spoiled myself willingly beforehand, because I need things that way) and I think my gripe with the Russos and Infinity War comes down to this - I think they understand the characters well, they do them well and do them justice, and all, yet … We’ve got totally amazing actors, so many cool new teamups that I did not know would work so amazingly well together and…it’s just that I don’t like the particular story they want to tell here and I sincerely mourn for all the other stories that I see the hints at that they would be so good at telling with that team, and that they are not telling, instead choosing to tell of death and destruction and hopelessness. Even if it gets to ultimately a hope-filled conclusion in a year, to me, the emotional price is somewhat too steep.
It’s like, having a playmate who has amazing toys and talents and you share your toys and they seem to think same of them and then the only play they want to play is kill them all, greek tragedy style. Or norse saga style. And you just wish so hard that you could sometimes play something else together with them.

It’s a special hell.

comments
